Assessing EU AI Compliance for Voice Biometrics

The Challenge
As the EU AI Act introduces risk-based requirements for AI systems, organisations developing AI technologies need to understand where their systems fall within the Act and what compliance requirements apply to them.
A company working with voice biometrics technology wanted to assess the regulatory risk associated with the AI system they were building and understand whether it could fall under the EU AI Act's prohibited AI practices.
The Assessment
Riskey conducted a live assessment of the AI system using EthiAI, our EU AI risk assessment platform.
The assessment began with the Prohibited Practices module, evaluating the AI system against the prohibited AI practices outlined under Article 5 of the EU AI Act.
The assessment determined that the AI system did not fall within the prohibited practices identified by EthiAI.
However, the assessment also identified that the system fell within the High-Risk AI category under the EU AI Act, meaning that additional requirements and obligations would need to be addressed.
